This transformative programme will enhance customer comfort, improve operational efficiency and refresh a fleet that has been a cornerstone of Southeastern’s Metro services since its introduction in 2004.
The vehicles will be equipped with the Onvia signalling system (formerly known as Atlas), Alstom's market-leading on-board solution for ETCS, covering the largest number of countries and subsystems.
More spacious, more modern, more comfortable and more efficient, RER NG has been designed to meet the needs of densely populated areas and to make a lasting improvement to travel conditions.
The contract is for a term of four years during which Alstom will maintain 26 Alstom-made Metropolis trains, as well as traction substations and signaling systems.
The maintenance will start in December 2025 and will be carried out in Umeå and Luleå, increasing the presence of Alstom’s operations in the north of Sweden.
