SENSIT Celebrates 35 Years: From Portable Cabins to High-End Sensors

Temperature, humidity, CO₂, level, flow, and position – modern production and automated control of technological processes cannot function without these data today. The Czech company SENSIT s.r.o. has been part of the industrial measurement technology sector for 35 years and ranks among the stable manufacturers of sensors for non-electrical quantities not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad.

The company SENSIT s.r.o. was founded in 1991 in Roznov pod Radhostem. It built upon the strong technical background and development tradition of the former Tesla Roznov, which was one of the major manufacturers of electronic components.

By transferring modern methods from the electronics industry into sensor production, the company succeeded in significantly reducing the size of sensing elements while also improving manufacturing efficiency. In the early 1990s, this technology was mastered by only a few companies worldwide.

Company’s founder, Jan Janíček, recalls:

"We started with seven people in rented portable cabins. The first six types of temperature sensors were presented at the exhibition Temperature Measurement in Industry in Ostrava as early as September 1991. Interestingly, three of them were made using metal pen caps. Within five years, we purchased the entire portable cabin building and in 1997 built a brick facility, which still forms the core of our premises today."

From the very beginning, the company focused on personal contact with customers and active participation in trade fairs.

Petr Brzezina, Executive Director, said:

"We took part in exhibitions ranging from Země živitelka in České Budějovice, through AQUATHERM Prague and the International Engineering Fair in Brno, to repeated participation at the world’s largest industrial trade fair – HANNOVER MESSE. Personal meetings are irreplaceable, and this remains true today."

From the original six types of temperature sensors, the company’s portfolio has grown to nearly 6,000 types and modifications of sensors for temperature, relative humidity, CO₂, level, and flow.
Production volume has also increased significantly – while the company manufactured approximately 144,000 units in 2013, by 2025 the number had reached 686,000 units.

SENSIT products are used in industry, energy, food processing, healthcare, railway transportation, building management systems, and other modern technologies.

An important part of the company’s success is its people. Today, the company employs several dozen specialists and continuously invests in their education, technical development, and motivation.

The Company's management, adds:

"Our customers also play a significant role, often coming with non-standard requirements. These challenges push us to find new technical solutions and naturally drive the company forward."

A strong advantage of SENSIT is its ability to respond flexibly to the specific needs of its customers. The company offers custom production of sensors starting from a single unit, while also being prepared for large-scale production.
Each sensor undergoes a so-called accelerated ageing process, which simulates approximately the first 100 hours of operation before the final outgoing inspection. As a result, customers receive a tested product with a high guarantee of reliability.

Štěpán Randýsek, Head of Sales at the company, concludes:

"We will see what new applications future technological development will bring. One thing is certain, however – the measurement of physical quantities will remain a key part of modern industry, and SENSIT intends to remain an active part of it in the years to come."
