The works on the Ankara-Istanbul line are part of TCDD's commitment to improving railway operations management and supporting the country's economic and social development.
As part of this project, Hitachi Rail Spain, together with Hitachi Rail Turkey, have signed a contract for the development, supply, installation and commissioning of the signalling systems for the line at the T26 and Bilecik depot. With the civil works now completed, it represents a key element in separating high-speed traffic from other rail services, reducing journey times from the current twenty minutes to just nine, while also improving the capacity and availability of the railway network. In addition, access to the Bilecik depot will enhance the operation and maintenance of the rolling stock serving this line.
Turkey thus demonstrates its strong commitment to the modernisation and development of the railway network, responding to the country's demand for fast, reliable and sustainable mobility.
The project includes:
. Modification of the existing interlockings and Traffic Control Centre, including trackside equipment, new turnouts and signals.
. Expansion of the existing telecommunications equipment.
. The line will also be equipped with ETCS L1 & L2 at both the T26 and the Bilecik depot.
This project further strengthens Hitachi Rail's position as one of the leading players in the railway sector in Turkey and demonstrates the confidence that TCDD, Turkey's infrastructure Administrator, has placed in the company.
Hitachi Rail established in Turkey since 1987 has worked with the Turkey Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Turkish State Railways (TCDD), as well as leading construction companies and system integrators, delivering a series of contracts for railway systems.
With this project, the company reaffirms its commitment to the transformation of rail mobility and innovation in Turkey, actively contributing to the country's economic development and promoting more sustainable, reliable and connected transport solutions that transform the way people travel and support broader economic and social development.
