RCG Extends TransNET with New Rail Freight Corridors

As European shippers seek more direct and resilient rail freight options, Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is extending its TransNET network with additional TransFER services for single wagonloads and containers. The latest expansion strengthens north–south and east–west connectivity across Europe while improving access to seaports, industrial regions and inland distribution hubs.

The new routes are designed to support time-sensitive supply chains with predictable schedules, reduced detours and integrated first- and last-mile services, including transshipment, warehousing and customs clearance.

Direct wagonload access to Rotterdam via Duisburg
A new TransFER service now connects the logistics hub Rheinkamp near Duisburg directly with the Port of Rotterdam. The TransFER Duisburg–Rotterdam operates with three weekly round trips and serves multiple port terminals, including Waalhaven, Europoort, Botlek, Pernis and Maasvlakte.

By routing through Rheinkamp, RCG enables efficient consolidation of flows from Germany and Austria, including links via TransFER Linz–Duisburg–Wels, connections to Scandinavia, and services toward Belgium. Additional antenna links from Rotterdam to Moerdijk, Geleen and Vlissingen further extend port-side distribution options.

Nonstop Salzburg–Offenbach connection strengthens Rhine-Main access
RCG has also introduced a nonstop TransFER between Salzburg and Offenbach, providing two weekly round trips between the Austrian rail hub and the Rhine-Main industrial region near Frankfurt am Main.

Offenbach serves as a gateway for regional distribution, with onward wagonload and container handling managed by ChemOil Logistics. From there, shipments can be efficiently routed to destinations such as Ludwigshafen, Mannheim and Worms, as well as toward France, Leuna and the Saarland region.

Intermodal services restructured toward Romania
In response to shifting customer demand, RCG has reconfigured its intermodal offerings toward Eastern Europe. The former Genk–Curtici route has been replaced by TransFER Liège–Curtici, now operating with seven weekly round trips from Liège. Positioned in the Benelux core, Liège offers strong rail connections to the North Sea ports of Rotterdam, Antwerp and Zeebrugge.

In parallel, a new TransFER Duisburg–Curtici service has been added with three weekly round trips, allowing traffic to Curtici to be consolidated via both Liège and Duisburg. This dual-hub approach increases flexibility for continental freight flows while improving reliability for shippers serving Central and Eastern European markets.

Expanding TransNET for flexible rail logistics
With these additions, RCG continues to develop its TransNET as a modular European rail freight network capable of supporting single wagonloads, containers and intermodal traffic. The expanded corridor structure is intended to reduce transit times, simplify routing and provide logistics customers with scalable alternatives to road transport across key European trade lanes.
