SAB Bröckskes premieres SABIX R flex Data IQ cables at IT-Trans 2026
High-performance, fire-safe data cables for modern rail infotainment and communication systems.
SAB Bröckskes will present its newly developed SABIX R flex Data IQ high-performance data cables for railway technology at IT-Trans 2026 (Booth 1-G60). The new series expands the manufacturer’s portfolio of permanently flexible rail cables in accordance with EN 45545-2 and is designed for advanced infotainment, display, and communication systems in rail vehicles.
High transmission performance for modern interfaces
The SABIX R flex Data IQ series supports a wide range of high-speed interfaces, including DVI Dual-Link, HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort, and USB 3.0 / USB 3.2 Gen 1x1. The cable construction combines reliable signal integrity with mechanical flexibility, enabling installation in confined spaces and supporting standardized modern interface architectures in rolling stock.
With a minimum bending radius of 4 × d for fixed installation and 12 × d for flexible applications, the cables are engineered for dynamic rail environments where space optimization and durability are critical.
Comprehensive fire protection and safety compliance
The new cable family complies with EN 45545-2 fire protection requirements R15 (EL1A) and R16 (EL1B) for hazard levels HL1 and HL2. Additional certifications include flame resistance according to UN/ECE R118 for international rail applications.
In case of fire, the halogen-free design ensures reduced smoke density, low corrosivity, and low toxicity, minimizing secondary damage to electrical components and improving passenger safety. The cables are flame retardant and self-extinguishing according to IEC 60332-1-2, bundle fire tested to IEC 60332-3-25, and resistant to oil and fuel in line with EN 50264-1.

Robust materials for demanding rail environments
Manufactured from RoHS-compliant and PFAS-free materials, the cables are approved for operating temperatures from -50 °C / -40 °C up to 90 °C (DIN VDE) or 75 °C (UL/CSA), depending on the specification.
